"The Beast In Me" WON Best Roots EP!

I'm unbelievably honored to announce "The Beast In Me" has won the award for Best Roots EP with the 13th annual Independent Music Awards!

I'm floored, y'all. Thanks. So. Much!

Thanks to the IMA's and all the judges that were involved. When I read some of the names of the folks who would be listening to the record, it gave my heart a throb, to the bottom of my feet. They're true idols, and I want to thank sincerely thank them for this honor.

I also want to thank everyone who has shown interest in this project. It has been a complete labor of love from inception to completion and I certainly wasn't expecting this sort of response. As an artist, there's so many times where you question...well...everything, so when something like this comes along it brings with it quite an overwhelming feeling of happiness and validation. So thank you!

Since this is the closest I've been to giving an acceptance speech **ahem** I would like to thank the people who made this record a reality!

Here's the incredible people who donated their time and talents to this album:

First...THE BAND.
Austin Cook, Corey Kaiser, Mike Amacher & Scott Rabino.
These guys are unbelievable at their craft, and I'm proud to call them friends. We only had a couple of rehearsals to figure out what we were going to do and how we were going to groove. These guys came prepared to create something special and the results were beyond what I could have hoped for.

Thanks so much fellas!

Austin Cook was also the brains behind the operation. He not only helped produce the session he also arranged every bit of horns/support vocals you hear. Painstakingly charting and conducting, he elevated this project to greater heights than I ever could have alone.

I'd also like to thanks Matt Ross-Spang at Sun Studio. They don't get better than this. Matt was able to take what could have been an overwhelming session and bring to a sense of calm and good humor that was infectious to everyone involved.

Then there's the following group that deserves a huge thank you:
Victor Sawyer, Mark Franklin, Jeremy Schrader & Sean Murphy. All of whom just killed it as a horn section.

And...
Scott Moreau, Ben Goddard & Adrienne Walker. All of which lent their marvelous vocals for the session.

There were more there that night in Sun, singing the gang vocals for the end of "The Silver Lining". THANK YOU! Hope you had as much fun as we did :)

Would also like to thank Mike Butler (Mixing) at Lost Ark Studios, Jamal Ruhe (Mastering) at West West Side Music and Jeff Powell (Vinyl Mastering).

I also need to say that the other nominees in the category were beyond phenomenal and I was already humbled to be in the same category with them. Lindsay Brandt, Mike Beach, The ReChords & Twin Peaks. Please spread the love for independent artists doing what they do out of love and passion.

Last but not least, thanks to my girl, Rosie Cohe. I'm one lucky dog to have her as my muse and my lady. She lent her photography for the project and helped me create the exact atmosphere visually I was trying to reach. Thanks babe!

And once again, thank YOU so much!

I truly believe in this music and where this music calls home. For years I've been trying to tap into the soundscape that has always been near and dear to my heart. Searching for the musical promised land per se....the land of Rock and Roll, R&B, Soul, Blues, Folk. The Land of 1000 Dances.

It is also, to me, the purest sense of the soul speaking it's mind. Whatever those words and melodies may be.
